If you are a frequent traveler who loves to travel light, then welcome to the club! I like nothing more than being able to pack for a long trip, and fit it all into one small backpack. I hate hauling around suitcases, or even duffle bags. The problem of packing light however, is having enough room. Clothes take up a lot of room, and 90 percent of your luggage space. But what if they didn’t HAVE to take up that much room? Enter Thousand Miles!

Now, full disclosure here. Thousand Miles contacted me, and asked me to review their clothes. They sent me several pieces to road test, and expect nothing from me other than an honest review. And that is exactly what I am going to give here, my completely honest review.
I mean, I already HAVE the clothes. It’s not like they can take them back now, right? So rest assured that I will not be talking up a company, or their clothes, if I don’t believe they are worth it.

About Thousand Miles
Thousand Miles was founded in 2019 by an avid traveler. A guy just like you and me by the name of Mason. He loved traveling, and liked to pack light and explore the world.
Like most of us that do the same, he became constantly frustrated at not being able to fit as much into his backpack as he should. He saw a need for some sort of revolutionary clothing brand that would solve these problems. So, he went out and created it himself.
Mason patented a new, lightweight material called OMNIFLEX. This super stretchy and resilient material is comfortable to wear, and has a flexibility that I personally am loving as I test it out. It is comfortable, and the shorts and long pants are designed to fold into themselves, creating a super small package that takes up very little precious room in a backpack or bag.
Needless to say, I am already a fan, and am getting happier with the Thousand Miles brand the more I test it.
Thousand Miles All Day Shorts
First, I will start with the Omniflex All Day Shorts.
These are super comfortable shorts that I have been testing around Bali recently. They are a lightweight, stretchy shorts that, I think, fall into the category of not being too long, but also not too short.
The design of the All Day Shorts is the first thing that I noticed. They have a button and a zipper in front, and have a waistband of elastic, which makes them extremely comfortable. This also helps when ordering online, as I think it gives a lot of leeway in relation to finding a size that fits.
They also have a drawstring, hidden away inside the waistband. I loved this feature as it negates the need for a belt if you have a size that is a little too large. Since I received my shorts a few weeks ago, I have actually dropped a few kilo’s, and they still fit me just as well as they did before thanks to the drawstring.
The material is very comfortable to wear. I am really loving how stretchy they are, and to wear them as an everyday shorts is easy to do. Being a slightly more “dressy” style of short, they can also have you covered for multiple occasions. This is an extremely valuable asset for a pair of shorts to have when you are packing light to go on the road. I can’t wait to see how much wear I get out of them in Europe next Summer, because I’m fairly certain it will be a lot.
So far, I have only found one downside to the OMNIFLEX All Day Shorts. This is sort of about the length of them, but specifically if you are wearing them in Bali. I think the length is good, and I find them very comfortable for walking around. However, after spending a day riding the scooter, I found they have the tendency to ride up really high on the leg. If I hadn’t noticed early enough to throw a good amount of sunscreen on, I could have been burnt in some nasty places.
The GOOD side of wearing the Thousand Miles All Day Shorts on the scooter was that they dry so fast. I got caught in a storm, and the shorts got rather wet. The material is quick drying though, and I found I wasn’t uncomfortable for very long at all. A great option in a tropical climate for that reason!
The other great thing about the Thousand Miles brand, is that much of their clothing can fold away into itself. The Shorts do this really easily, folding into the back pocket, making a great little package that fits so easily into my backpack. You can check out how easily they fold up by looking at THIS video on their website.
I am a big fan of packing cubes, and really swear by the Eagle Creek Packing Cubes in particular. The fact that the Thousand Miles Shorts fold easily into themselves means that packing them into the cubes is almost like you are DOUBLE saving on space. I love it!
Thousand Miles Aero-01 T-Shirt
The shirts from Thousand Miles are, like the shorts and all the rest of their gear, of a ultra high standard. When mine arrived, I was immediately impressed by the material and obvious quality that was apparent even before I tried it on.
The shirt that Thousand Miles sent me is one of their Aero-01 T-Shirts. It is extremely stretchable, and made from very breathable material. It is also billed as being anti bacterial, (with military grade technology, which MUST be good) however I haven’t gotten around to building up a sweat in it as yet. So that will be interesting when I do.
There are three main points that I really like about the shirt. First, is its quality and stretchiness. I have full confidence that it would have to be put through quite a battering in order to damage it. Even then, I think you would find it hard!
Second, it is very, very lightweight. When I travel I like to roll my clothes and pack them into packing cubes. This shirt rolls up really neatly, hardly gets a wrinkle, and is SO light. Perfect for the minimalist traveler!
The final thing I really like about the shirt is its amazing quick dry technology. Whenever I have gotten it wet, it dries extremely fast. This is perfect here in Bali, when you can be caught in a rain storm at any given second during wet season. No doubt I will most likely be investing in a couple more in the future.
Now, for what I don’t like. This is a simple one, and is just basically the sizing and fit. I am not the slimmest guy, although you wouldn’t exactly call be plus size either. When I ordered my shirt though, I chose the largest size they have, which is 2XL. It turned out to be quite a tight fit.
Now, this is the way that the shirts are designed, and they are aimed at the active market, after all. But not every active person has a washboard stomach, and is a generic height either. At 6 foot 3 tall and having a “little” extra around the middle, I just don’t feel that comfortable in the shirt.
If you are the sort of person that likes a size snug fit, then these shirts are perfect for you. If you are not towering over 6 foot, and are a generally fit person, then they are probably perfect for you too.
One thing that cannot be denied though, is the quality and amazing product that the shirts are. Just be sure to check out the great sizing guides on the website, and give them a go. I certainly recommend them.
Sizing and Prices
If you are going to check out the Thousand Miles Clothing, then you will want to make sure you get your sizing right. The Thousand Miles website really goes all out to help you with this.
The sizing guides they have leave you with no doubt what you will need. They even have a model on the sizing page, so that you can visualize your decisions!
The clothing comes in sizes XS to XXL. The sizing chart gives you multiple measurements that will assist you to figure out which you will fit into.
In my own experience, I found that some of the measurements were WAY off. Possibly due to a little spare tyre around the midriff. However, I was able to match up with enough of the other measurements to figure out I needed the XXL in all items. In the end, the sizing charts are very helpful.
As for prices, in my opinion they are also very reasonable. Especially when compared to other clothing brands selling similar products. For example the All Day Shorts are priced at around $90 AUD. This is for a really great, durable and long lasting product. They also come in 7 different colors.
The T-Shirt is priced around $65 AUD, and comes in the choice of 4 different colors.
Final Verdict
I am loving the Thousand Miles clothing brand. The shorts are so easy to wear, and the shirt, although a little tighter than I would like, is a great product. I certainly would recommend both items of clothing to anyone, and especially travelers who would like to pack light.
I have also been given a pair of the Thousand Miles All Day Pants (the long version) to road test. I am really excited to do this, hopefully in Turkey in a couple of weeks, and will update this article with the results.
So, my final verdict on the Thousand Miles Clothing Brand?
4.5/5
There is not much to really mark them down on, in reality. The only thing for me is that maybe they need another size, especially in the shirt. Not too many tall guys without a six pack washboard stomach might find even the largest size shirt comfortable. However, if you like a nice, snug and tight fit, then you might just be onto a winner.
I certainly recommend Thousand Miles, and I hope you have enjoyed my review.
