Annecy, France had been on my bucket list for quite some time, and like most bucket list items, you never expect to be able to actually tick them all off. So recently when I had the opportunity to stop by in Annecy, I jumped at it. Being a “tourist hub” though, I knew it wouldn’t be cheap, so one of the first things I did was to set about to find the best budget places to eat in Annecy.

Now, if you follow my blog, then you will know that when I travel on a budget, I REALLY budget. So in articles such as this about Plovdiv, Fethiye, Nusa Dua or Kadikoy, you will see that it’s sometimes not even about finding restaurants. It’s just about finding something decent to EAT.
Finding budget places to eat in Annecy wasn’t as hard as I expected, but most were still a bit higher than I would have wanted to pay. For this article, I am limiting my selections to those around the main “Old Town” area where tourists and visitors usually hang out, and keeping it to under 10 Euro meals.
So, here are some places you can find a decent sandwich, or quiche, when you are searching for where to eat in Annecy.

Boissons Café
So, I’m not exactly sure that this is the actual name of this place!
Being located right near to the main tourist attraction in Annecy, Le Palais de I’lle, it is both easy to find and something that you would not EXPECT to find. Either way, it is there, and when open it has a great selection of sandwiches, panini’s, bagel’s and wraps, all for between 5 euro and 7 euro.
Not bad for a place right in the middle of a tourist town!
You can find Boissons Café (hopefully) near THIS Google Maps location. Check the photo for an idea what to look for!
TIP – In the cover photo of this article, you can see the cafe just on the right of the gelato!
Aux Cygnes Gourmands
This place is only a street away from the main canal in Annecy. Essentially it is a Pâtissier and Chocolatier, but they do really nice meals too.
At the front of the counters, just before all the pastries, you will find some wonderful looking Quiche selections. On most days, they will do these up in meals with a salad, and it will only cost you 7 Euro. Pretty good for a quick and easy dinner on the way home from doing the “tourist thing”.
They also do other meals, including club sandwiches with the side of salad for the same price.
You can find them at THIS Google Maps location.
Glacier Perriere
Ok. I’m cheating by putting this one in here, but I can’t miss it when talking about best places to eat in Annecy!
This is just a Gelato store, but it is also located right next to the bridge where you will take photos of Le Palais de I’lle. Many visitors will get a Gelato and then take a stroll off toward the lake to enjoy the views. Some will just hang around the store and take photos on the bridge. The choice is yours, but if you are going to get Gelato in Annecy, then get it here!
It is located at THIS Google Maps location.
Casetta di Tony & La Fermette
If you are searching for a good place to grab lunch, then these have to be two of the best places to eat in Annecy. You can find both of them next door to each other at THIS location.
I have listed both of these together as they are not only next door to each other, but also have much the same food for the same price. They have a wonderful selection of rolls, and panini’s lavished with salad or ham and cheese for around 5 – 6 Euro. Venture inside and you will find more on offer, but the best specials are right out front in the display cabinets.
If hot food is more your thing, La Fermette also has some tasty quiches if you are quick enough to get to them before the crowd arrive. Remember that this little passageway is one of the most popular thoroughfares in Annecy!
Pauvert Traiteur
This place to eat in Annecy isn’t really a café or restaurant. Instead, it is a catering business, and the go to place for locals if hosting parties etc. The food on selection is amazing, but be careful because most of it is expensive!
This is why it is a little surprise as a budget place to eat in Annecy. I almost walked right past until I saw the little quiches and other pastries in the very last window. On closer inspection, they were a really decent price, and competitive with anything else on this list.
So if you are around the heart of Annecy and everything else is overly busy, try popping by this place! You can find it at THIS Google Maps Location.
Tres Alp’ain
Tres Alp’ain became my favorite place to eat in Annecy on my latest visit. The selection of really well priced food was amazing, and the quality was delicious!
They serve everything here from quiche and rolls, to cheesecakes and salads. My favorite was the mini pizzas though, that I just kept coming back for!
This is also one of the most popular cafes in Annecy, and being quite small and in a very central location, you have to be lucky if you want to actually sit and have coffee. For a take away though, it’s a winner every time!
Tres Apl’ain can be found at a few different locations around Annecy, but the one that you will want near the center is at THIS location.
Le Peche Mignon Pâtissier
Speaking of popular cafes, Le Peche Mignon is one of the best in Annecy, yet at heart is actually a pastry shop. They do wonderful coffees though, so the tables inside are always full.
If you are searching for Le Peche Mignon, here’s a tip. Just look for the crowd. The display in their window is SO enticing that no one can just walk right past without stopping. Indeed, it was this that stopped me the first time, and ended up with me buying one of their delicious quiche lorraine!
You may have to line up for a table if dining in, but it is definitely worth it. You can find them at THIS location.
Tuesday Markets
This one is a little different, but I couldn’t help but list it anyway!
If you find yourself in Annecy on a Tuesday, there are markets lining many of the streets. They sell many, many things, from fruit and veg right down to souvenirs. But they also do food!
It may not be the cheapest food around, but you can pick up some good, traditional and freshly cooked (on the spot) food for a fraction of the price you would get it in a restaurant! Plus, there are the fruits and veg, cheeses, sausages and other delicacies that you can get fresh and “cheap” due to the fact that it’s a market.
I won’t put a Maps location, as they are hard to miss if you are around on a Tuesday!
Carrefour City & Monoprix
Another strange one, but I list supermarkets in ALL of my budget meal guides. Budget places to eat in Annecy are no different.
At both Carrefour and Monoprix, you can pick up the usual staples that you would find at any supermarket. Both of them also have some great premade salads, sandwiches, wraps and rolls for good prices as well. I ate them quite a bit, and found they were always fresh. Even the ones that were on sale!
Both Carrefour and Monoprix can be found at different locations around the city, but check out the Monoprix at THIS location as it is very central. There is a small café downstairs with some cheap food on display, and the supermarket is upstairs.
Summary
If you are looking for budget places to eat in Annecy, they DO exist. It is not that expensive a town, but you can still save a bit of money and eat decent meals. I hope this list helps you out a bit.
