Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall may not be as well known as it’s popular neighbors Banu Wana Amertha Waterfall and Banyumala Twin Waterfalls, but they are in no way a lesser experience. These Falls are often confused for the others due to the closeness of their proximity which is a shame, because they really deserve to hold a much higher status.
We originally found Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall simply from the signs that are along the road above the Twin Lakes. Like most visitors, we were heading for the other waterfalls in the region at the time. If not for the signs we would not have been aware of their existence at all, which bodes well for anyone searching for Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall because they are very easy to find.

How to get to Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall
Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall isn’t hard to find. Situated just north of Bali’s Twin Lakes, the waterfalls are right in between Banu Wana Amertha Waterfall and Banyumala Twin Waterfalls. All of these Falls have different access’s, however it does make it easy to locate them.
From the southern parts of Bali simply head north toward Bedugul. Once through Bedugul pass by Handara Golf and Resort on your right, then wind up the hill with the lakes on your left. Dodge the monkeys that are likely to be all over the road and at the top of the hill take a hard left. The turnoff to Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall will appear on your right after a couple of minutes, just past the Banu Wana Amertha Waterfall turn off.
What to expect at Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall
Expect the unexpected! Although if you are reading this article then we are about to let the cat out of the bag…
There are actually Three Waterfalls at this location. It is not exactly clear what the names of each individual waterfall is, much as is the case at Banu Wana Amertha Waterfall where they are simply named one and two waterfall.
What IS apparent is that they will have to be named soon because they are just too amazing to not become very, very popular in a short period of time.
At the ticket office pay your entrance fee and begin down the stairs. Now, there are quite a lot of stairs at this waterfall, and on the day we visited there was not much breeze, so make certain to bring lots of water. They are not hard stairs, and in very good condition when compared to a lot of waterfalls in Bali.
After only about 5 minutes (if that) you will come to a view point where you will get your first glimpse of the tallest of the three Falls at Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall. It is a majestic sight, so snap away a few photos while you are there. If you pause to wonder how you are able to hear the waterfall from this distance, you would not be alone. The fact is that the first of the waterfalls is directly underneath you, but still out of sight at this point.
Continue down the path in the other direction from the view point and follow it as it winds along the cliff face until the next lot of stairs begins. Here, they seem to endlessly wind down the cliff, with a rest spot appearing at one point. They do end, though, and you will soon find yourself following a beautiful path through the rainforest alongside the stream at the bottom of the gorge.
Once you reach Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall you will stand in awe and wonder how such a location can possibly exist. The beginning of the very gorge that you have been following is adorned with three amazing waterfalls, all seeming to fight each other for attention, and all totally different in character from each other. Remember that unless it is the wet season, the middle waterfall may not be flowing, which in our opinion just gives you more time to enjoy the other two!
The Waterfalls
The first Falls you come to at Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall is definately our favourite. The best way to describe it would be a cross between Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall, and Kanto Lampo Waterfall. These amazing Falls are not high, but spill down over dozens of rocks into the pool at their base. It is mesmertizing, and easy to just get lost in your own thoughts as you stand and wonder at the sight in front of you.
At the top of the Falls there is a lot of plant life. At first you might not realise but as you lift your eyes to study it closer, you will see that the waterfall actually begins a long, long way up the cliff behind it, spilling in multiple levels down from an unseen origin high above.
The longer you stand and look at this waterfall the more amazing it becomes, and it is for this reason that it is has moved rapidly into the top 5 waterfalls we have visited in Bali. And that list has over 40 waterfalls on it!
The second and third waterfalls
The other two waterfalls at Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall are similar in the fact that they are both tall, and drop virtually unhindered into the pools at their base. The middle waterfall, however, does not run all year and sometimes is not much more than a dribble running down the cliff. For this reason we will move onto the third waterfall, because it is worthy of the attention.
This waterfall is the one that you would have seen from the view point high above. At first, it will seem to be falling from the tree canopy itself, but once you move to it’s base you will see it’s origin high above, spilling from the edge of the cliff in amongst all of the surrounding foliage.
For the amount of water that is flowing over this waterfall and smashing into the ground far below, the pool is little more than a puddle. When we were there, wading into it wet the ankles, but didn’t even trouble the rest of the legs. It is possible to get close to the waterfall, but getting under it will result in a quick lesson on how much water can sting when falling from a great height!
What you CAN do, and we took advantage of, is walk around behind the waterfall into the mossy green grotto behind the Falls. This is not always possible at waterfalls and we love it, as it gives a totally different perspective on not only the waterfall, but the world outside as you seem to be experiencing it from some sort of virtual reality.
Take your time at these waterfalls, and enjoy the wonder of having a place like this to yourself (if you do) because we are certain that it will be crowded with tourists before long. Also, you may want to recharge the batteries in those legs before taking on the stairs to climb back out of the gorge!
Where to stay for Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall
As we usually do, we recommend staying in the Munduk area whenever visiting the waterfalls around the region. There are just so many Falls to see and so many things to do, that it just makes good sense. Whenever we visit we always end up doing a lot more than we planned, so usually try to stay for a couple of nights.
We always stay at Adila Warung and Homestay. The owners are absolutely fantastic, friendly and helpful. The place has become like a second home to us, and we will never think of staying anywhere else.
What else is there to do in the region?
If you are visiting Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall and are thinking of staying for a while, great idea! Even if you are just trying to fill in a whole day for a trip, then there are loads of things to do.
Why not make it a waterfall tour and visit the neighboring falls, Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall or Banyumala Twin Waterfalls? Both of these falls are under ten minutes away and are simply amazing.
If staying overnight and take our suggestion for Adila Warung and Homestay, there is a private access from their back gate to 4 more gorgeous waterfalls. The first one, Munduk Waterfall, is only a short 10 minute stroll from Adila.
Other than that, don’t forget that you will pass right by Handara Gates at Bedugul, and Ulan Danu Beratan Temple, one of the most famous and picturesque temples in Bali on the way back home. You will also have seen the signs for Leke Leke Waterfall on the way to Bedugul, and if you love waterfalls it should certainly be on your list!
Either way, make certain to visit Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall at some stage. You will not be disappointed.
