For every first time visitor to Bali, there is always the question of what to do? This amazing island is so diverse, and with terrain ranging from Mountains and Jungles to white sandy beaches, there is so much to choose from. Little wonder that once you step outside your resort, confusion quickly sets in. Unless you have a plan, you will probably end up doing nothing at all, which is a pity because there are just so many amazing Bali day trips available that will quickly turn your holiday into the most incredible experience ever!

From rice paddies to temples, and from tropical islands to waterfalls that will blow your mind, I have put together a list of tours that will make your Bali holiday stand out from the rest.

Before I start, I will mention that I always tour with GetYourGuide. They run some of the most amazing trips in and around Bali, and you will not find better service, more experience, or more professional guides on the island. And trust me – I have tried a lot! All of the tours on this list have been handpicked and I fully recommend. So, let’s get started!

The Mount Batur Sunrise Hike with Breakfast

Mount Batur is an amazing climb. To stand on the top of a volcano, watching one of the most amazing sunrises you have ever seen while the steam from the crater wisps around you in the morning air is truly an experience! I personally have done it twice, and am already lining up for my third time.

With a tour, you get picked up from the hotel, driven all the way to the base of the mountain where you meet your guide, and escorted to the top. You don’t have to worry about a thing, other than wearing the right shoes and bringing something warm to wear up top. Oh, and don’t forget your camera, because you are really going to regret leaving it at home!

Included in the Mount Batur Sunrise Hike Tour is:

  • Pickup and drop off at your hotel or resort
  • air conditioned transfer

  • all entrance fees
  • fresh cooked breakfast (eggs cooked in volcano steam vents)
  • flashlight
  • Insurance
  • water

The Mount Batur Sunrise Hike is one of the best tours I have done in Bali. Definitely check it out!

Basically an East Bali Tour, you will see temples, waterfalls, rice paddies and beautiful water gardens. Heaven’s Gate is not to be missed for any tourist to Bali, but for mine, Tukad Cepung Waterfall is one of the best waterfalls on the island!

This tour will take you up into one of my favorite regions of Bali. The mountains in North Bali are a place that I personally have returned to on dozens of occasions, and will continue to in the future. It is the perfect place for anyone looking for some good Bali Day Trips.

On the Northern Charm Tour, you will visit some of the most beautiful places that exist around the lakeside town of Bedugul, and see the amazing Twin Lakes. A visit to the iconic Handara Gates and a trip down to the scenic Banyumala Twin Waterfalls will be topped off by a swing above the twin lakes themselves.

Tanah Lot Guided Sunset Tour

If there is one iconic sight in Bali, it has to the the incredible temple at Tanah Lot.

This temple, sitting on a rock surrounded by the ocean, can be seen not only on advertisements for Bali, but tourism posters all over the world. It is without a doubt one of the most spectacular and most recognizable sights in the world.

Unless you have your own transport, the best way to see Tanah Lot is with a tour, and the best time to see it is definitely at Sunset! This tour will give you both.

Swim with Manta Rays at Nusa Penida

There isn’t anything in the ocean more majestic than the incredible Manta Ray. Nusa Penida, located just a short trip away from Bali Island, is one of the best places in the world to not only see, but to come up close and personal with them.

Take a tour out to Nusa Penida, where you will snorkel at famous Manta Bay, and see these beautiful creatures yourself. Float above them as they swim lazily underneath you. Then, move on to the colorful Crystal Bay for more snorkeling, followed by Mangrove Point.

Your Nusa Penida trip includes:

  • Pick up and transfer
  • Boat trip to Nusa Penida
  • Boat to the Snorkeling spots

Nusa Penida Small Group Tour

Now, Nusa Penida is a big island, and for most visitors will be split into two trips. One to the West side of the island, and one to the East. To see the entire island, you really need two Bali Day Trips, as one will not do it all. For this, you are best to stay overnight on the island.

If you are interested (and you SHOULD be) to see some of the best sights on the island, then you can easily do the Best of Nusa Penida Day Trip. This will take you from Sanur, via fast boat to Nusa Penida where you will board an air conditioned van and be whisked out to the amazing Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach and Angels Billabong. These are some of the most iconic places on the island, and will be a highlight of your entire Bali holiday!

The Nusa Penida Tour includes:

  • Hotel/Resort pick up and drop off
  • Fast boat transfer from Sanur
  • Air conditioned Transport
  • Local Guide
  • Kelingking Beach
  • Broken Beach
  • Angel’s Billabong

Nusa Penida is a truly amazing island, and in many regards the most beautiful place in Bali. It is well known with tourists now, which is good and bad. First, many tours go there, but on the good side there are now paved roads where only a couple of years ago tours were long and hot as you bumped across dirt tracks around the island. Head there now, and see this amazing spot before it become even MORE popular!

Besakih Temple and Gates of Heaven Tour

Have you even been to Bali if you haven’t been to the Gates of Heaven? Many don’t believe so!

This tour will take you to two of the most famous temples in Bali, and give you many memorable moments that can be captured beautifully on camera.

Besakih Temple is the oldest temple in Bali, and the most holy. Known as the Mother Temple of the Island, it is located on the slopes of Mount Agung, and is incredible to behold.

Lempuyang Temple in East Bali, also known as Heaven’s Gate, is one of the most famous temples in Bali, and also one of the most popular Instagram Spots. Visit both of these amazing temples in the one day on this tour.

Bali Zoo Breakfast with Orangutans

Bali Zoo is a wonderful place to visit, even if you DON’T have kids.

One of the most unforgettable experiences that I have done in Bali has to be the breakfast with Orangutans at Bali Zoo.

Wake up early and head to the zoo, to enjoy a wonderful Buffet breakfast while the most beautiful orangutans are swinging on ropes around you. To add to the excitement, there are also guest elephants, exotic birds, and all sorts of other creatures for you to get up close and personal with!

Read my full review of the Breakfast with Orangutans experience HERE.

Private Sekumpul Waterfall Tour

Sekumpul Waterfall is one of the most amazing waterfalls on the island. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the tour of the Sekumpul Waterfall Valley is one of the best Bali Day Trips, and one of the most amazing experiences I have had on the island of Bali. This is because there is not just the one waterfall. Here, you really get bang for your buck with up to 5 waterfalls scattered across the valley!

Pick up from your hotel will be early, so be ready! Coffee on the way will then see you arrive at the starting point around 1030am. Your tour of the waterfalls is guided, and will take several hours. Wear good walking shoes and comfortable clothes, bring your camera and be prepared to get a bit wet. The tour will also involve crossing a few streams, so waterproof shoes are also handy.

Your Tour to Sekumpul includes:

  • Sekumpul Waterfall

On the way home you will visit one of the most famous temples in Bali at Lake Beratan, so make sure you bring a change of clothes in case you get wet at the waterfalls.
