Any conversation of waterfalls in Bali will eventually turn to the Munduk area. The mountainous terrain and tropical jungles are rife with waterfalls that would rival any others on the island, and within Indonesia itself. Munduk Waterfall, Red Coral, and Labuan Tebo are all names that roll off the tongue, however for some reason Golden Valley Waterfall gets lost in the mix. Not for long, though, with Golden Valley Waterfall now becoming a lot more popular among both locals and tourists.

Where is Golden Valley Waterfall?
Golden Valley Waterfall is located in the Munduk area of Bali. Easy to get to from pretty much anywhere, and only about two hours from the southern tourist hub, it is perfect for a quick day trip away. With that in mind, there are so many waterfalls in the region that a stay of a night or two in any of the perfect little home stays is definitely worth your while.
Once in the Munduk area, finding the waterfall is easy. Follow the road that winds up from the twin lakes toward Gobleg, and you will shortly begin coming across regular signs for access to individual waterfalls. The sign to Golden Valley Waterfall is one of the first you will come across as it is upstream from most of the others.
Visit Eco Café At Golden Valley Waterfall
The hike to Golden Valley Waterfall from the road is only about 15 minutes long. It’s not a strenuous hike, but we still recommend wearing appropriate footwear to avoid any slippery parts of the trail, as you would for any hikes to waterfalls in Bali. Personally, we like to go with a combo hiking sandal that is both comfortable, and easy to wear through water while also keeping your feet protected.
Once at the falls you will find there are a couple of quaint cafes located on either side of the falls. Both afford you magnificent views, and you can access one or the other by following the trail a little downstream, crossing and coming back on the other side.
Featuring great food and a handy place to enjoy a cold (or hot) beverage while taking in the falls, these cafes also cater for your selfie and Instagram needs. Swings and photograph opportunities abound, and if that is your thing then make certain to check out both cafes because both have different features. When we were there during Covid-19 we had the place entirely to ourselves, however even on a semi-busy day there are plenty of places to chill out and find that zen moment you have been craving.
What Else Can You Do At Golden Valley Waterfall?
Besides the hike to the falls, getting your photos and having some lunch, if you still want more then we have you covered!
The pool at the base of the falls is not very deep. Make your way right down to the base of the 50 Foot falls and feel the power of the water. There are not many falls that give you the opportunity to actually wade in to the point that you can get up close and personal without having to swim.
If you have time, and we recommend you make the time, then put your hiking shoes on and head further down the trail. The next falls you will come to will be Munduk Waterfall, or Red Coral Waterfall as the locals know it. You will instantly recognize it from the millions of photos on social media, and it is certainly a highlight of the Munduk area. Even further down the trail, past a couple more cafes you will find Labuan Tebo Waterfall, and then Melanting Waterfall.
To get to Melanting Waterfall would take you at least an extra 90 minutes, and taking into account the stops at the other waterfalls along the way, you will want to make it a half day at least to see them all. Staying in the area, especially at a place like Adila Homestay gives you private access to the walking trails right at your back door.
Also be aware that access to each waterfall will cost you 10,000 rupe, which is nothing really when you take into account how spectacular they all are.

Munduk provides accommodation from budget friendly to luxury, so no matter what you are searching for, you will find it here. Even if it IS the mountains!
Above all, enjoy your trip to Golden Valley Waterfall and the Munduk Region. We love it, and we are certain you will too.
