But where are the best Bali Sunset Spots?

This is a question that many will ask, and few will find a good answer too. Why? Because there are simply SO MANY great spots!

Here, though, I have made a list of my favorite Bali Sunset Spots, so that when YOU visit Bali, you will know exactly where to go.

Table of Contents

#1 The Classic Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is famous worldwide, and it is practically impossible to visit Bali and not visit Kuta Beach at least once. It is an iconic place on the Bali map, and every evening gets packed with visitors as everyone comes down to witness one of the best sunsets on the island.

But what makes Kuta Beach one of the top Bali sunset spots? The simple answer is atmosphere! From live bands playing music up and down the beach, to ice cold beer, colorful beanbags, and nasi goreng served up by the multitude of warungs along the strip, it is a place that you just HAVE to experience.

#2 Sunset Point, Amed

Sunset Point at Amed on the north shore of Bali provides exactly what it advertises. One of the best sunsets in Bali!

This spot is actually a restaurant, specifically designed to view the sunset, and has quick become one of the best Bali Sunset Spots. Sip on a cold beer, snack on their amazing Pisang Goreng, and watch as the sun slips down toward the horizon and disappears behind the constantly smoking Mount Agung.

If you visit Sunset Point once, then don’t let that turn you off returning. At different times of year the sunset appears totally different, and it is worth seeing the difference.

Wondering how to get around in Bali?

I always suggest Scooter as the best and fastest way to get around the island. If you are not confident enough on a scooter, there is always the option to hire a car and a driver. For more information, click here for your guide for getting around in Bali.

# 3 The Famous Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot is one of the most famous Temples in Bali, and is by far the most photographed. Every day, hundreds of visitors flock to it, with tour buses and private vehicles packing out the carpark from the early hours.

The most savvy visitors, however, will realize that the best time of day to visit is late in the afternoon, when the sun begins to drop and the shadows get longer. Tanah Lot has become one of the best Bali Sunset Spots, and it is one that you really HAVE to witness for yourself.

Get there early and grab yourself a spot on the grass, because even though a lot of visitors leave before sunset, you will still be fighting for that perfect photo with dozens of others!

#4 Nusa Lembongan’s incredible Devil’s Tears

Anyone that has ever visited Nusa Lembongan will know exactly what Devil’s Tears is. The famous blowhole hosts hundreds of tourists every day, and most of them will board the fast boat back to Bali long before sunset.

What they are missing, however, is one of the best sunsets in Bali. Just around the corner from Devil’s Tears are some magical tidal pools, and late in the afternoon the locals will flock to this spot to sit quietly and share the amazing sunset together.

Next time you visit Nusa Lembongan, stay overnight. Because this Bali Sunset Spot is worth hanging around for!

#5 Kelingking Beach Viewpoint

Kelingking Beach is a place that you would recognize from thousands of photos on Instagram, and pretty much any advertisement of Bali in recent years. Essentially it is a headland that is often described as looking like a “T-Rex”.

This place gets inundated with tourists throughout the day, and at any given time usually has up to a 2 hour lineup for photos at the viewpoint. Wait around, though, until all the tour busses leave and witness one of the most amazing sunsets in Bali!

#6 Jaran Hill, Uluwatu

Jaran Hill is a little known place tucked away in a side street in Uluwatu. Not many people know about it, and of those that do, only a small percentage are not locals. This is a place that they would rather keep secret.

Why? Because during tourist season the crowds flock to nearby Uluwatu Temple and the Kecak Dance to watch the sunset. Meanwhile, only a stone’s throw away is Jaran Hill, and only a small handful of people will be there, watching the exact same sunset with no crowd.

This place is perched nicely on a small, jutting piece of cliff within clear sight of the Temple. Visitors can sit on a neat little piece of grass right on the edge of the cliff, sip on a cold beverage and watch the amazing Ulu sunset in peace.

#7 Tanjung Balangan

Tanjung Balangan is one of my favorite spots to watch the sunset in Bali. Located just above Balangan Beach, it is the place that the locals come to watch the sunset, and with good reason.

This place has atmosphere plus. People bring their picnic rugs, sit in small groups and chat away the afternoon as the sun drops toward the horizon. Sit on the edge of the cliff and watch the waves roll by far below, and enjoy one of the most peaceful sunsets you are likely to witness in Bali.

#8 “Hidden” Bingin Cliff

Bingin Cliff doesn’t really have a name, but that’s what I call it. Tucked away in between villas, paddocks and two of the most famous Jimbaran Beaches, Bingin Cliff is mostly famous for its beautiful Sunsets.

To get there, you have to wind your way through the backblocks of Pecatu. Eventually you will arrive at a nondescript paddock, where you will park and set off along a small track past the cows toward the cliff edge. On one side, you will see Dreamland Beach, and on the other, Bingin. At low tide there is even a beach below you, which is actually the far northern part of Bingin Beach itself.

Grab yourself a spot on the grass and settle back to enjoy the sunset. This is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and secluded Bali Sunset Spots. Don’t forget the picnic rug!

#9 “The Beach Love” Kedungu Beach

Kedungu Beach, or “The Beach Love” as it is known locally, is a new place on the Bali sunset spots scene. When we visited not long ago, I was the only westerner in sight, and with good reason.

This place has not been open very long, and word has not yet gotten out. It won’t take long, however, because it is an absolutely amazing place to watch the sunset.

Perched on a small headland just above a brilliant black sand beach in Tabanan, Kedungu has dozens of colored beanbags for you to relax on, with little wooden tables made from packing crates to eat or drink at. With two small warungs on site that serve up the most delicious food, it is little wonder that this place is increasing its popularity with every passing day!

#10 Munduk

Munduk is my favorite place in Bali, and one that I return to time and again. At first, that was for the incredible waterfalls, hiking, and panoramas that you get from this beautiful mountain village. I soon learnt, however, that Munduk has many hidden qualities that came as quite a surprise.

One of those is the incredible sunsets. From Munduk, you can watch as the sun drops down over the distant volcanoes of Java, or depending upon the time of year, into the ocean to the north instead. The colors and hues that are provided are incredible, and the volcanic backdrop is surreal, to say the least.

If you are visiting Bali and would like to find a really authentic and different Bali Sunset, then head up to Munduk for one of the very best!
