Tanjung Balangan is a headland located above Balangan Beach on the southern Bali Bukit. It is one of the best places on the island to see the sunset, yet is still only really known to locals and the lucky visitor who might stumble across it. Find this place, and you will have the most amazing photos to spruce up your Instagram feed and make your friends jealous. Trust me!

Where is Tanjung Balangan?
Tanjung Balangan can easily be found by heading out onto the Bali Bukit and taking the road from Jimbaran toward Uluwatu. Once you reach the small roundabout (monument in the middle of the road) at Ungasan, turn right and wind your way down the hill until you get to the very end. If you go the wrong way, you will just end up at Balangan Beach, which is right below the headland. Back track and you will find the right turn. Alternatively, follow this link for Google maps.
What to expect at Tanjung Balangan?
Tanjung Balangan is a headland. That says it all right? Actually, it doesn’t. This place only has a few trees, and the views to the west will see you gazing right past Seminyak and about as far down the Bali coastline as your eyes allow. In the other direction, Uluwatu juts clearly out into the ocean. Directly below you is the photogenic Balangan Beach, and on the other side are the private beaches and Rock Bar of the Ayana Resort.
What makes this place so special, however, is not just the views. Late in the afternoon the locals gather in small groups, laughing and joking as they enjoy the end of the day. The sun drops gorgeously over the ocean and the colors in the sky and the water are amazing. The ocean below is so clear that you can see the sand on the bottom, and the fishermen hum songs to themselves as they drop their lines in from the rocks below, or kayaks that drift lazily by.
If you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all, relax, and just enjoy that beautiful Bali Sunset without having to worry about hawkers and overpriced beer, then get yourself out to Tanjung Balangan. It’s an experience worth checking out!
